THE ALLENDALE WOMAN’S CLUB HOSPITALITY DEPARTMENT

Here are some helpful hints and guidelines for our newer members and reminders for our more seasoned members about the monthly hostessing duties….

First, make hostessing a meeting fun, not stressful. One member has been selected to Chair the hostess committee each month. She coordinates the theme and what each member will bring. That ensures a variety of food and beverage for the meeting. Cook it, bake it, buy it…whatever you choose. Everyone will enjoy and appreciate it!

The Chair is contacted 2 weeks before the meeting via email and is then responsible for following up with the members. If a member is not responding to emails, it is the Chair’s responsibility to contact that member directly. The keys to the front door of borough hall and the kitchen pantry are the responsibility of the committee and must remain together. Prior to each meeting, the monthly Chair picks up the keys from the Hospitality Committee, and returns them after the meeting is over. It is the monthly Chair’s responsibility to open and lock Borough Hall the night of the meeting.

The committee should provide:

􀂾 5-6 appetizers

􀂾 3-4 finger desserts

􀂾 3-4 bottles of red wine

􀂾 2-3 bottles of white wine

􀂾 5 bottles of soda (seltzer, regular and diet)

􀂾 Ice, paper goods (check cabinet for supplies first)

Please be courteous and conscientious. The monthly hostess committee is responsible for set up and cleanup of the room. Please leave the kitchen neat.

During the month of December, the Homelife Committee arranges the annual Cookie Exchange. This is held at a member’s home, but all other responsibilities of the committee remain the same. The cookies for the exchange are not part of the dessert count, since these are for shut-ins and member exchange.

Have fun! If you have any questions, please call me!
